Research Programmes

Research work at the Faculty is conducted by the Faculty laboratories, as well as by programme and research groups. In 9 departments, there are 32 research laboratories. The laboratories perform their research within programmes and projects funded by the ministries and agencies of the Republic of Slovenia, collaborate with Slovenian industry and take part in projects within framework programmes and other programmes of the European Community.

In 2018, the Faculty was involved in 14 research programmes of the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) with total programme funding of EUR 1.872 million or 27,46 FTE. The Faculty coordinates or autonomously conducts 12 research programmes and participates in 2 research programmes coordinated by the Jožef Stefan Institute. The Faculty also runs the infrastructural centre of the Laboratory of Biocybernetics (0,9 FTE) as part of the infrastructure programme Network of Research Infrastructure Centres at the University of Ljubljana (MRIC UL). In 2018, two research programmes came to a close.  On the basis of the Public Call to submit research programmes for the next financing period and reports on the results of research programmes the Slovenian Research Agency approved 2 programmes for the new 2019 financing period in addition to the 12 already active programmes that received first financing in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

In 2018 the Faculty had a total of 34 active research projects of the Slovenian Research Agency, of which 24 fundamental, 8 applicative, 1 targeted research programme and 1 post-doctoral project. The scope of project financing of the Agency in 2018 was EUR 1,303 thousand or 19.99 FTE.

In 2018, 44 young researchers from the Agency programme trained at the Faculty, 13 of which successfully completed the training. Moreover, in 2018 the Faculty welcomed 7 new young researchers from the Agency programme who started their training in autumn.
